Chief Raymond Dokpesi
Chief Raymond Dokpesi (late) was born on 25th October 1951 at Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria. A Nigerian by nationality who hailed from the town of Agenebode in Edo state and he’s said to belong to a large family of six sisters and four brothers.
Dokpesi had his secondary education at Loyola College Ibadan but later moved to the Immaculate Conception College (ICC) Benin City. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Benin, Edo State. Further, he completed his studies at the University of Gdansk, Poland where he earned his Doctorate degree in Marine Engineering.
Chief Raymond Dokpesi due to his polygamous nature is married to different wives called Tosin Dokpesi, Angela Dokpesi, Precious Dokpesi, and Fani_Kayode. And he also has several children who have earned their own names in various fields carrying on the family tradition of achievement.
His contribution to the media industry, as well as his entrepreneurial ventures, catapulted him to financial success. And has emerged as one of Nigeria’s most influential and wealthy businessmen with an estimated net worth of $50 million.
Late Chief Dokpesi’s career was marked by his pioneering efforts in the Nigerian media landscape. He established DAAR Communications and under its umbrella, he founded Africa Independent Television (AIT), Nigeria’s first private TV network. Also, he founded Nigeria’s first privately owned radio station, Raymond FM, and the Nigerian Compass newspaper as well. He also played a significant role in Nigerian politics and was an active member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). During his active political career, he held various positions within the party structure due to his love for good governance.
The astute businessman passed away on the 29th of May, 2023 after being unwell for some time.
